Whats Poppington: Schiaparelli vs Prada: IMPOSSIBLE CONVERSATIONS

What happens when two generations of iconic Italian fashion talent sit down and discuss the intersection of fashion, politics, art and beauty? Miuccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli sharing a glass of wine and a few choice bon mots; wouldn’t you love to be a fly on the wall for that conversation? The Costume institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art certainly thinks so and their Impossible Conversations exhibit, creates a dialogue between the doyennes of eccentric chic. Its an exhibit that any fashion head needs to visit one day of the other. Films were created by director Baz Luhrman and designed by Nathan Crowley.

The Shoe Game” Prada Time 2011-2012 Shoe Collection

Prada, Prada, Prada…. Their 2011-2012 shoe collection is hot, hot, hot. Featuring pumps and wedged heels in very unique styles Prada is conquering the term innovation. I  freakin love it. The advertising campaign was shot by Steven Miesel, following the same campaign for the clothing lines, Which is just as bad ass as the shoe line. but I must say the shoe line takes most of the bad ass-ness.

FYI my doll babies just in case you want to sound like a high fashion intellect while talking high fashion mumbo-jumbo use this line while gabbing about the collection (here goes) “Prada, the Italian fashion brand, their 2011-2012 shoe collection, “the trompe l’oeil” is combined with multiple styles of high heel and it’s meant to be worn with knee-high, a design by Miuccia Prada. Simple Delectable and charming, I expected nothing less. Did you?” If that doesn’t get the froo froo crowd and NAY sayers then they suck.

The Shoe Game: Manolo Blanik, Jimmy Choo, Gucci, Prada and more

Whats Poppington: Through the lens of Julian Schratter

With his insider perspective and a clean keen eye for a fashion moment no one captures the energy backstage quite like Julian Schratter. Take a look at his dynamic shots from Milan, from Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, to Vivienne Westwood. His shots were raw, un edited in your face, they looked very simple, but dynamic, just like a group of guys after a soccer game but with cigarettes…..Very Poppington

Whats Poppington: Marc Jacobs plays “dress up” with Prada’s fall 2011 collection in Industrie

Okay I just want to say that I love Marc Jacobs with passion, and the fact he decided to play “dress up” with Miuccia effortless classy Prada collection, makes me adore him even more. He plays out as a Miuccia maniac. Marc dresses up in womens clothing, and shows the designer dressed in a variety of head to toe looks for Prada’s Fall 2011 Collection.

Marc, clearly a voracious Prada fan, was shot by Manuela Pavesi, Micciua’s best friend. Quoted in the spread is Miuccia herself: “Of course I like Marc dressing in Prada very much. I think he is very brave and, most important of all, he looks completely acceptable and elegant. He has a real spirit and I like his work.” He also said “I got through this dreary winter by coming to work each day dressed in Cat-in-the-hat fur boas, striped pencil skirts, hospital scrubs, correctional-facility tops and brogue/espadrille/creeper-style shoes-all Prada. Some men’s, and some from the women’s collection.” according to Katie Grand, he bought two of every skirt from the collection, one from NY and Paris…..thats our Marc.

Whats Poppington: Anna Wintour on the cover of WSJ

She’s more famous for having order a cover shoot for Mario testino rather than being on the front cover for one of his works, but shes made the April 2011 issue for Wall Street Journal Magazine. She’s profiled in her signature look, perfectly bangs swept over her brows, and a mod neck-length bob. If you’ve seen THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA (by the way, shes wearing prada on the cover) you already know that Anna is a powerful lady when it comes to making things happen so stay tuned.
