Whats Poppington: Kanye West at The Governor’s Ball: ‘Radio Ain’t Where I Want To Be No More’

Does this look familiar to you? reminds you of the CDs your homeboy or homegirl would burn for you back in highschool when you wanted to cop that new Jay, Biggie, or Nas?….well your pretty close. Our music genius Kanye West is serving us the throwback vibe with his new album, apparently hes done with commercial everything!

Last night, during his performance at the Governor’s Ball, he addressed a few things regarding his upcoming album, “Yeezus” during a brief break in his set, including his decision to release his project without an album cover. He revealed:

“This is usually the part of the show when I start complaining about sh-t…justifying sh-t but you know how it is. I’m just happy to be making music. And happy to be able to perform and sh-t for y’all. You know with this album, we ain’t drop no single for radio. We ain’t got no big NBA campaign or nothing like that. Sh-t, we ain’t even got no cover. We just made some real music. And you know like, back when I use to make albums and sh-t like a couple of years ago, we would go away and work on our album for like five months or something ,and then we’d always have to hold the album until August or September, till the perfect moment and sh-t. Because it will mean that, ‘I think you’re going to sell more because you get more audience and ratings and sh-t,’ but honestly at this point when I listen to radio, that ain’t where I wanna be no more.”

Honestly at this point, I could give a f-ck about selling a million records as long as I can put out an album for the summer that y’all can rock to all motherf-cking summer[…] At this point, I don’t really give a f-ck about outside opinions, all I give a f-ck about is my clique, clique, ain’t nobody fresher than my motherf-cking clique, clique, clique. As I look around they don’t do it like my clique. And all these b-tches mad they want the d–k.

In case you missed it, this is how the Yeezus album will be packaged when it hits stores on June 18.

Whats Poppington: Kanye West’s ‘Cruel Summer’

In order to be anyone in the Indie film industry, you have to atleast attend, the Cannes film festival, hell or even debut your film there, and thats exactly what the controversial, rapper/designer/artist/film director Kanye West did recently accompanied with his best friend/ lover Kim Kardashian sporting a very sexy and short Balmain dress. So what is Cruel Summer about?

Well according to MTV sources Cruel Summer is the story of a Lamborghini car thief who falls for a beautiful blind Arabic girl who’s father will let them marry if he can help her see. So he (Kid Cudi) does using strings that lead her around palace to play music. Kanye West says it’s a work in progress but it’s wildly stylish, huge booming soundtrack, Vanessa beecroft production design. Immersive fun. Kanye says he had to get script approval in Qatar. He needed 20 camels, 100 extras, and around 20 Lambos. His female star (Sarah A., an intern Doha Film Institute, pictured above) is the star of Cruel Summer. The film features fashion he designed and pieces by local Arabic designers, shot in 4 days, 3 months start to almost-finish. It will be released November 19th, Cant wait!!

Whats Poppington: Celebs at the Metropolitan Met Gala

Check out some of the other models and celebs that attended the Met Ball as well

Whats Poppington: The Carters and Mr. West

Beyoncé and Jay-Z stepped out on the town for a shopping spree in New York City over the weekend. The superstar couple hit up high-end fashion boutique Intermix to scoop up some designer duds with their pal Kanye West. The Carters didn’t play shy as they showed PDA through the store window, with B’s baby bump in full view.

Whats Poppington: Kanye West debuts his Dw line at Paris Fashion Week

We all know im a HUUUUUGE fan of Dr. West aka Kan the Louis Vuitton Don…Kanye West.. so when I found out he was debuting his womens wear line at paris fashion, I was over the top excited. This past Saturday, Kanye held his Spring 2012 Fashion show in Paris during Paris Fashion week at Lycee Henri IV. Kanye debuted his new women’s clothing line, “DW.” ”DW” is a tribute to his late mother, Donda West. Kanye maned the show backstage while his audience, consisting of celebrity designers such as Riccardo Tisci and Jeremy Scott, and celebrities such as The Olsen Twins and Lindsay Lohan, watched along. Check out photos of some of the designs and a runway video below.

Whats Poppington: “Amber Sighting” Amber Rose That Is

For those of you who don’t know I LOVE Amber Rose she’s a beast (in a good way). I’m a fan and I don’t care if she’s not really famous for anything. I like her. She’s beautiful and she can dress her little fanny off. Last, but not least her personal style over all is ill. In my opinion Kanye became ten times cooler with “The Bald Beast” on his arms

Whats Poppington: Kanye The Fashion Designer

Above is a video of Kanye and former girl friend (my imaginary BFF) Amber Rose. In this video he is styling her for a fashion spread in ELLE Magazine. So when I herd that this September, Kanye will show his own line at New York Fashion Week as part of the Spring/Summer 2012 collections I was not surprised. The controversal multi-talented rapper has always been fashion savvy and has surrounded himself among fashion greats. Do your thing Kanye. You certainly have a natural flare for fashion, and if you can present to the “fashion world” your vision of the term (fashion that is) go for it. I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us.

Whats Poppington: Paul Leli

Paul Leli is an artist that has recently caught my attention. The 26-year-old artist, is based in Toronto, Canada, but that doesn’t stop him from creating jaw-dropping portraits of pop icons from around the world. Paul Leli is painting celeb reality with a hint of awesomeness. Take a closer look at some of our favorite pieces from Paul below.

Whats Poppington: Kanye West’s Scarves Inspired by “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”

Back in March it was rumored that Kanye West would be collaborating with graphic design and art direction team M/M to create a new range of silk scarves inspired by his latest album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.”The $364 silk numbers come with the names Power, Phoenix, Ballerina, Face and Priest. The original artwork was banned by retailers like Walmart who felt the images were too explicit. Kanye’s solution? Put them on scarves, and wear it in your face. Only 100 of each design will be available starting Monday, May 9th.
Purchase at www.mmparis.com or www.colette.fr.

Whats Poppington: Burkman Bros Hand braided braclets

Could “Pan-Africanism” be on the road map for this summer’s fashion trend? Look no further than Kanye West, who took Coachella by storm earlier this month. While most were focusing on the pairs of Air Yeezy 2 he pounced on stage on, a few also noticed the tribal getup he wore, including 3 integral woven bracelets by BURKMAN BROS. Hand braided and comes in a pack of 3, the designs extrude nostalgia when “friendship bracelets” were all the rage. Of course these were made to last, unlike those claimed to by your “friends”.

Taking inspiration from their far-flung travels and perhaps the odd muse they met along the way, the Burkmans deftly updated classic menswear pieces without ever taking stylistic flourishes too far. Maybe an eyedropper of Asian influence, thank you very much, but no more. Each season takes fresh influence from somewhere or something else, while the brothers’ skilled restraint keeps the overall tone cool and considered. The result is a distinctive, casual menswear line that is strong, sexy and never gratuitous

Whats Poppington: Kanye west wearing womens Celine blouse

Now I must confess, ive been known to genderbend and wear a few unisex items in my day and I still do, I dont think anything is wrong with it, if you pull it off, it should be 50/50. With all the talk this morning about Kanye West wearing the Air Yeezy 2 sneakers last night at Coachella, people might have forgotten that he wore a completely different outfit when he began his set. To close the 3-day music festival, Kanye wore a Celine long-sleeve shirt from the French luxury brand’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Celine does not offer a menswear line, so it’s unknown if this was a custom piece just for Kanye or if it’s straight from the upcoming collection…….and honestly it looks very good on Kanye.

Is Kanye’s Givenchy Leopard jacket a hit or miss?

Ye was spotted over the weekend at the Christian Dior show wearing a Leopard print bomber jacket from Givenchy’s s/s 2011 collection paired with a pair of distressed jeans and loafers. Word from the bird he recently applied for the Master’s Degree program in Fashion and Central Saint Martins college of London. He’s been building his porfolio with interships at Fendi, and Louis Vuitton, but its up to the school board to decide whether he would be approved for the program, kinda neat of him right? I wonder is Cassius had anything to do with this?

What’s poppington: How Kanye got his “Christian Dior Denim Flow”

He’s one of the most talked about rappers of all time, he’s brave, blunt, intelligent, and some would say a little disrespectful. But, there’s no denying that this chi-town native doesn’t have one of the most impeccable styles out right now, well actually he’s probably the best dressed rapper of all time. But wait, he didn’t do all this by himself, we have to give it up to this one guy named Cassius Marcellus Cornelius Clay.

He’s an aristocrat, old old money. It’s hard to miss him at Yale. At a lanky 6’5″, the baby-faced blonde, pocket-watch user, and cravat-wearer cuts an imposing figure. He’s also more ironic than a truckload of Tumblrs. The man dresses like some unholy hipster hybrid of Scott Schuman, a 19th-century robber-baron, and the Shah of Iran. Since Day-One of freshmen year, the bespectacled social-butterfly has been Modern Love-ing and DKE-ing, praising royalism with the fusty Tory Party, and lauding Lady Gaga and libraries in the YDN. But that’s not all there is to the inimitable fashionisto. As it happens, Cassius’ blood is bluer than even his pretty eyes. In fact, he’s the heir of the Clay dynasty, New England’s foremost titans of business and government. Cassius is related to Henry Clay himself, and takes his name from another old-Yalie ancestor, famed abolitionist Cassius Marcellus Clay. But despite the Yale debauchery, Cassius is no layabout. The kid earned top honors at prep-central, Phillips Academy Andover, where he was an international-level debater. In short, it’s an open question whether or not Cassius’ eccentric fashion and demeanor (not to mention his talents) satirize his dynastic roots or exemplify them.

Cassius is doing what the does best: dropping tin at expensive, trendy designer stores. The lucky retailer of the day is Barney’s, New York. Today, his outfit is impeccable, topped off with high-end Italian designer shoes. In the midst of shopping, a man approaches Cassius, taps him on the shoulder, and tells him that he really, really loves the footwear. Cassius looks up; it’s Kanye West. Cassius keeps it cool, thanks him, and introduces himself. The stars align; history is made. (This moment will almost certainly be reenacted dramatically on Behind The Music.)

The two get to talking as they shop. Kanye loves Cassius’ style, his attitude, his patrician hipsterdom. They talk for over half an hour. Kanye begins to reveal a little more about himself: his reinvention in the wake of the Taylor Swift disaster, and his thoughts on life, art, philosophy, hos (maybe), etc. Cassius advises the rapper on his day’s purchases. Eventually the two leave the store, shopping bags in tow, and exchange phone-numbers and emails. Kanye promises to keep in touch. And oh, does he……..they later became best friends, and fashion partners for life.
