Whats Poppington: Christophe Decarnin is leaving Balmain

His absence from his own show at Paris fashion week last month was a sign that something was very wrong at the house of Balmain and now it has been confirmed that Christophe Decarnin is leaving the label that he catapulted to fashion fame in just five years. Rumours were already rife after his autumn/winter show, but executives at the label insisted that the designer was simply exhausted. At the same time Decarnin had also lost his collaborator-in-chief Emmanuelle Alt who was a force behind the label’s styling. During his tenure, Decarnin has fused couture and ready-to-wear, putting his ultra-sexy spin onto super luxe embellished jeans, tees and jackets which have all been hugely wait-listed despite their dizzying price tags. Decarnin entirely reinvented the house and made it one of the most coveted and talked about labels of the past decade. Balmain is expected to made an announcement as to his successor later today, WWD is reporting, and that that person is likely to be plucked from within his own design team. Below are the celebs that were clad in Balmain, such a legendary house name, and personally one of my favorite designers.

What’s Poppington: it’s hip to be…PUNK

Punk fashion is going to be very huge in 2011, so many versatile styles to use. The punk style was a rebellious statement that started in Britain years ago. Along with punk style came punk music, and a cult following of the artistic youth looking to express their own voices. Ripped T-shirts, extravagant piercings, and spiked hair in bright colors represented this non-conformist group. Think Sid Vicious meets Courtney Love for a lovely date on a Friday night.
