Have you ever walked into an event not having expectations and was elated to be completely blown away? Well, I just had my first experience of real and raw musical emotions. J Vive, Carolina Breeze, Savvy, and Main of Gripp Ent, are four musically talented individuals in Charleston SC doing big things in these streets. You don’t have to take my word for it, so watch for yourself. I’m more than sure you too will be bopping your head with a sick groove, and when you do make sure you don’t miss the next Gripp Ent Unplugged event.
Hello faithful readers, if your still there, All thirty thousand of you. I am in the process of a revamp and relaunch of PrettynPoppington. I know some of you darlings are pissed off and irritated at my inconsistency, so for that I have to apologize…Apologies. The way I look at things is, life happens, and in life you have to revamp and relaunch and that’s exactly what I have been doing so that I can be 100% committed and faithful to my passion, PrettynPoppington.
In with the new
With that being said, expect to see new posts, videos and Interviews starting Fall 2016 with blog post topics focusing on crisp original indie talent from the Carolina’s and beyond. This coming fall will be a great start for the new PrettynPoppington. Expect to see more esthetic changes as I will enjoy the personal challenge of building my readers back up to 30k per month and more. Lego!!!
VH1 did an article on the top 15 female rappers to look out for in 2015, The list is quite interesting. Some of the MC’s that made the list has definitely made an impact this year and will continue to make their mark into 2016, and others I haven’t heard of. That’s not to say that they’re not doing big things, I simply haven’t heard of them. I’m no rap authority, I just like what I like, which just so happens to end up very popular or mainstream. So, with that being said, I have an eye for things and people that are poppington (pun intended). The top 15 ladies that were selected by VH1 are Angel Haze; Lizzo to Jungle Pussy; Tiffany Foxx to Nyemiah Supreme. Didn’t I just say that i’m tuned in to all things/people that are and will be poppington. Tiffany Fox, yes mam. I did a post on her a few years back (I’m tooting my horn) because I knew she would certainly make a mark, Nyemiah Supreme was also featured on a PrettynPoppington post along with other female MC’s apart of The Sisterhood of Hip Hop, a reality show that show cased women and their journey to success in the hip hop industry. I feel that VH1 has a pretty accurate list. My top three female MC’s for 2015 are as followed and check out hip hops female rap competition below.
Bryson Tiller, Tory Lanez, and Sean Leon are three men putting in work to be the best. These guys are musical artists making their mark in the world of hip-hop. They are beating the odds when it comes to the quintessential dreams of most artist to “make it big” in the industry. With consistent radio play well over 200 thousand likes on YouTube and other social media outlets these men are hip-hops competition. It’s amazing what independent labels, self determination, unique style and talent can get you. Remember these names, I’m sure you’ll see them again.
I have been so inspired to do a post on The Original Charleo for a few months now and I feel like now is fitting especially with the holidays peeking around the corner. What is The Origin Charleo you may ask, well to answer your inquiry, it’s the authentic and official Charleston clothing brand that speaks volumes in the 843 as a whole and has now taking larger strides to other states with the interests of celebrities rocking Charleo gear for all to see. I LOVE the love and exposure Charleo Clothing is getting.
I love it because this one dream and/or vision of an official clothing line that was cultivated by the founder or founders has brought unity and support to a culture (urban culture) and city of people that is hard as hell to get support and love from. The Charleston hip-hop and entertainment scene is one that you would have to know about to speak on. If you know anything about the hip-hop and urban music scene in Charleston you would know that unity and support of fellow artist is as cold as an Antarctic draft. Since The Original Charleo has launch I see and feel consistent love and support of the brand and a culture of people has finally pooled together to support their own through the love of being fresh to def and the culture of hip-hop.
Brianna Davis, who is Brianna Davis? Well, she is another dope ass indie artist that has a VOICE, meaning, she has bars for days, clarity in her rhymes, and lyrics to go along with beauty and a unique swag. We interviewed Brianna Davis on our radio show, Those to Watch Radio . Her interview was awesome due to the fact that we got to see her personality, which is very official and assuring. Not only that, her music, is sick!!! For real. I’m going to stop writing about it now and post the video you see below so you can check it out for yourself.
