What’s Poppington: The Black Cultural Smudge

collage (2)

Do you all ever wonder where the originators of hip -hop dancing went? I’m talking about the original you got served style of dance. The Omarion and Marcus Huston type dancers before things, “changed”. What about the beginners of authentic rap music and  hip hop before it became “mainstream” and replicated by the “masses”. How about the authentic ethnic beauty features of a black woman like the beautiful and cornbread fed Porche Williams, full lips, full hips, and plump derrieres, before the Kim K’s, and Kylie’s bought and attached those features to their bodies and made it “a thing.” Do you ever wonder what happened to these people, the originators of black culture? Well, we’re still here living and still having our culture smudged. Is it okay to become obsolete in specific areas while other people adopt, and/or steal our culture? Does it affect our identities? What do we do about the black culture smudge?
